Hello, friend,
I hope you are doing well.
Some time has passed since Hurricane Florence brought its wind, rain, epic flooding and misery to the people of Cape Fear, Wilmington and our region. Since then, the Cape Fear Volunteer Center has worked non-stop to support volunteers in neighborhoods and at non-profit organizations that are working to help our community recover.
The initial blitz of news coverage is already waning. And to some extent it seems the public’s focus, as people’s lives slowly return to normal.
CFVC believes our recovery could take years and require a significant private-public investment.
Long after many of the non-profits that came to North Carolina have gone, Cape Fear Volunteer Center will still be working, and after 15 years of community service, we are here to stay!
We have the experience and passion in our DNA to help lead our community’s renaissance.
What some people do not fully realize is that it takes time and money to recruit and support people who want to volunteer. And unlike other charities in our area, CFVC is not the direct beneficiary of volunteers’ time nor talents.
CFVC does not charge charities like an employment agency would, or people who want to use our services. Few charities in our region have done more to improve the human condition over such a long period of time than the Cape Fear Volunteer Center.
During our entire history we have served countless volunteers, but relatively few people and companies have helped us by making monetary donations. Turns out, most people don’t donate money because they think they help CFVC by volunteering. Third-party charities are the recipients of our work.
Today, CFVC needs your monetary contributions to help make our region’s challenging, long-term recovery marathon a success.
Besides covering the cost to serve volunteers and help charities, thousands of tools and tons of construction supplies will be needed to aid our community's recovery.
I ask that you consider making a one-time or ongoing monthly donation to support the work of the Cape Fear Volunteer Center. A link to donate money to CFVC is located on our "Donate" page. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Annie M. Anthony
